LETHBRIDGE - A U of L student plans on wearing a kilt for an entire year to raise
funds and awareness for male related cancers.
Steve Firth has lost a few family members over the past few months to
prostate cancer and wants to get the message out that men as young as 19 need to
get checked out.
Firth also plans to hold 12 community events during the year to get people
involved. He says "somebody will get cancer in their life or in their family at
some stage, everybody is going to come across it and the time to stick it and
bury it underneath the carpets is just done, we need to stop shooing it away and
hoping it goes away and we need to get it out there and address it."
