LETHBRIDGE: A 55-year-old city man has been charged in connection with an incident that
resulted in the Tactical Team responding to a north-side home last
About 8:00-pm on Thursday, March 21st, police were called to a home
along the 1300 block of 23 Street North, after receiving a 911 call.
A male occupant of the home uttered threats against police and then
barricaded himself inside. The Tactical Team secured the area and police
tried to negotiate with the man who refused to let a 23-year-old woman leave the
residence. The woman was assaulted and threatened.
Just before midnight Tactical Team members entered the home and arrested the
man. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Hopkins, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of unlawful confinement,
assault with a weapon, assault, resisting a peace officer, breach of an
undertaking and three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily
Hopkins is scheduled to appear in court March 28th.
