Changes Coming To The Executive Level Of The Regional Police

LETHBRIDGE - The Police Commission is working to restructure the executive level of the Regional Police.

They want to create a Deputy Chief position and reduce the number of Inspectors from four to three.

Chair Doug McLaughlin says the Chiefs "workload is enormous and as a result of that, there are some areas that we've got to shift, and we've found through some study and discussion over the last few months that we can move some of the responsibilities of his to a Deputy position and make our service just work that much more efficiently and effectively."

The Deputy Chief will be chosen by the commission and they're looking at hiring internally.

There's no set time frame to accomplish this, but it will be done by the end of the year.
