Police Lay More Than A Dozen Charges In Case That Begins With Unpaid Cab Fare
LETHRBIDGE: A 23-year old city man is facing a string of charges related to drugs, as
well as a fraud and assault case.
The events began on Sunday, March 24th at about 4:10 in the morning, when
Regional Police responded to a taxi fraud in the 2100 block of 23 Street,
North. The cab driver reported he had been physically assaulted by a man and
that the suspect threw coins at him before fleeing, without paying his taxi
After an investigation, police officers went to the suspect's home
on Monday, to arrest him in relation to taxi incident. Officers noticed
controlled drugs and substances inside his residence.
As a direct result of the officers observations a search warrant was obtained
and the suspect's home was searched. Police officers seized a small amount of
marihuana, hash oil and MDMA (ecstasy), and several firearms.
incident, on March 24th, Drew Daniel Boake has been charged with assault with a
weapon, transportation by fraud and two counts of breaching a recognizance
contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
In respect to the search
warrant, on April 1st, Boake has been charged with three counts of possession of
a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
three counts of improperly storing a firearm and three counts of breaching a
recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of
