Lethbridge: A team calling themselves "The Rio Project" that's based out of the
University of Lethbridge has their aim set on bringing home medals from the 2016
Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The four javelin throwers from all over Canada have come to the U-of-L,
which is home to the National Training Centre for the sport and coach Lawrence
" The ultimate goal is to medal. In the past, I've heard a lot of people say
that Canadian athletes are happy with just going to the Olympics and just making
it, but that's never just been my goal, to just make the Olympics. It's to get a
medal and represent our country well and to go beyond and be the best in the
world" said one of the four athletes, Liz Gleadle.
Gleadle noted that our city is an excellent place to hone their skills, as
they have access to great training facilities and an elite level coach in
Leading up to the Olympics in 2016 Gleadle said they're also hoping for
strong showings at events like the Canadian National Championships and World
