Taber Voyeurism Suspect Identified

TABER:  ****Up-Date

Thanks to tips from the public, Taber Police have charged 55-yeard Frederik Dekker of Burdett in the Taber voyeurism case.

On February 1st, Police received a complaint of a video recording device found in a public washroom at a convenience store in Taber. The device contained images of people using the washroom.

The camera also contained images of the individual who police believed was responsible for placing the camera.

As result of the media release issued on Tuesday, Taber Police received several tips from the public that helped identify the person of interest. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a Burdett man and the execution of a search warrant on a residence south of Burdett.

Taber Police say the public played a huge part in the investigation which lead to the arrest, as without tips from the community, they wouldn't have been able to identify the suspect. While the video camera was found in a 7-11 convenience store, no actual video had been taken there, before the camera was found. The video pictures came from other locations and police believe as many and 50 people could have been victimized.

Taber Police have charged Dekker with one count of voyeurism.  He was released on a $5000 no cash recognizance, with conditions, and will appear in Taber court on May 14th.
