TABER: Alert police officers witnessed suspicious activity early Saturday morning that
lead to charges against two men and a woman.
The group was seen in the 6400 block of 54 Street in Taber and an
investigation revealed they were involved in numerous thefts of gasoline,
diesel, copper wire, batteries, and other recyclables.
While committing the thefts, the trio's van got stuck in some
mud. They attempted to remove the van from the mud but then allegedly stole a
truck from a nearby workplace and were encountered by police.
Brooks resident, 23-year old Brian Furet, 18-year old Warren Young and
19-year old Ursula Young, both of no fixed address, have each been charged. The
charges include one count of theft of motor vehicle over $5000.00, three counts
theft under $5000.00, one count of possession of stolen property over $5000.00,
three counts of possession of stolen property under $5000.00 and two counts
of mischief to property.
All three were remanded to appear in Taber
Provincial Court on Tuesday May 7th, 2013.
