Three People Charged In Taber Thefts

TABER:  Alert police officers witnessed suspicious activity early Saturday morning that lead to charges against two men and a woman.

The group was seen in the 6400 block of 54 Street in Taber and an investigation revealed they were involved in numerous thefts of gasoline, diesel, copper wire, batteries, and other recyclables.

While committing the thefts, the trio's van got stuck in some mud. They attempted to remove the van from the mud but then allegedly stole a truck from a nearby workplace and were encountered by police.

The charges include one count of theft of motor vehicle over $5000.00, three counts theft under $5000.00, one count of possession of stolen property over $5000.00, three counts of possession of stolen property under $5000.00 and two counts of mischief to property.

All three were remanded to appear in Taber Provincial Court on Tuesday May 7th, 2013.
