LETHBRIDGE: One of two Standoff men charged in an unprovoked attack in a west side park last month has pleaded guilty to uttering threats.
April 25th around 8:40-PM a couple walking their dog in Rutgers Park was confronted by a man. When they tried to ignore him and go around, he shoved the male victim and punched him in the chest. The victim punched him back, at which point the suspect broke a bottle and used it as a weapon.
24-year old Ryan Neil Williams, who had been sitting nearby, then got involved by approaching the scene and threatening the couple saying, "We're going to kill you."
The male victim told his girlfriend to run while he held them off and she called police. The two men were arrested a short distance away.
As a result of the guilty plea Williams was handed a 30-day jail sentence, and given credit for 14-days already served in pre-trial custody.
Co-accused 19-year old Samuel Kenton Williams had his charges, which include assault with a weapon and uttering threats, adjourned to May 29th for a bail hearing.
