Fire Bans And Advisories In Effect Across The Province

Southern Alberta: Dry conditions and winds between 70 and 80 K have pushed the fire hazard to extreme levels, Sunday and Monday.

Environment ad Sustainable Resource Development is warning Albertans to take extreme caution. If a wildfire were to occur, especially in grassy ares, it could cause uncontrollable spread, making it difficult for fire fighters to contain.

All permits withing the Forest protection Area of Alberta have been cancelled and no new permits will be issued. All burning of outside campfires should be extinguished. Environment and Sustainable Resource Development say wildfires at this time of year are predominantly human-caused and 100 percent preventable.

Many areas across the province have fire bans or fire advisories in effect.
