Elderly Man Dies After Collision-- Lethbridge Man Charged with Impaired Driving
LETHBRIDGE: A 43-year old Lethbridge man is facing impaired driving charges, in connection with a collision Monday night that is believed to have claimed one life.
Around 8-pm Regional Police responded to the collision along Highway 3 about 300 metres west of Scenic Drive South, after a semi-tractor trailer unit collided with the rear of a westbound SUV.
The 86-year old female and 86-year old male occupants of the SUV were treated and released at the scene, however when the male started complaining of soreness later that night, he was taken to the Raymond Hospital. He died there Tuesday morning.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death. The name of the victim will be withheld pending the autopsy results.
Ernest Theodore Burger will be in court August 6th. He faces charges of impaired driving, driving over .08 and dangerous driving.
