LETHBRIDGE: Two Lethbridge teens have been charged in connection with a street racing incident late last year.

November 24th, 2012 at 3-AM Regional Police responded to a serious injury collision along Fairmont Boulevard.

An 18-year old who was allegedly racing a 17-year old lost control of his vehicle, hit a parked car, a light standard and several utility boxes before rolling. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

He was taken to the Chinook Regional Hospital and transferred to Calgary Foothills Hospital in Calgary with serious, life-threatening injuries. He remained there until March of 2013.

The 17-year old, who has since turned 18, is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm while street racing and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. Because he was a young offender his name can not be released. He makes his first court appearance September 16th.

The 18-year old, now 19, is charged with impaired driving, driving over .08 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while street racing. He'll be in court August 30th. His identity is also being withheld as he is related to the young offender.
