MP Jim Hillyer Backs Off Initial Intention To Run In Medicine Hat Riding

LETHBRIDGE - MP Jim Hillyer may have jumped the gun a little.

When the new federal boundaries were announced a few months ago, Hillyer announced his intention to run in the Medicine Hat riding in the next election in 2015.

However, the party has now indicated they don't want two sitting MP's to run against each other for the nomination. That's a problem for Hillyer since LaVar Payne is the sitting MP in Medicine Hat.

Hillyer says running in Lethbridge is still a good possibility but nothing is official and decisions still need to be made between himself, the party and his colleagues.

The new electoral boundaries will see the Medicine Hat riding include the Blood Reserve, Cardston, Raymond, Milk River and Warner.
