Dave Poulsen Expects Nothing But the Best at Whoop-Up Days Rodeo
LETHBRIDGE: As we enter the final stretch of Whoop-Up Days and the CPRA Pro Rodeo, you can expect top-notch competition from the cowboys and cowgirls taking part.
Rodeo Announcer Dave Poulsen says because it's late in the season, all participants will be under extra pressure to perform at a high level, "This is the seventh last rodeo of our entire season, and as a result with those races heating up for the final births at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in virtually every event, Lethbridge becomes really important because of where it is on the calendar. It's so late in the season, everybody who has any kind of a shot at all at getting to the Canadian Finals Rodeo, which of course is everybody's goal, they're all here."
Poulsen continued to talk about what this event means to the participants, "You absolutely get out there and try to do everything you can, the money that you win at Lethbridge very easily could determine your fate in terms of the Canadian Finals Rodeo. I'm sure there's going to be guys and gals who look back on this rodeo and say, 'that was the one that got me to the finals,' or 'if I had done better there I would have got to the final,' so it's important."
The rodeo wraps up Saturday, with things kicking off at 3 o'clock.
