Free The Fuzz Event Raises Money For Special Olympics
LETHBRIDGE - The Free the Fuzz fundraiser is underway at the south Walmart.
A member of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service is locked in a cage to
raise money for Special Olympics. It will run until 11 o clock on Friday night
when Walmart closes and police officers will return from 7am until 6pm on
Staff Sergeant Zealand Leavitt says "hopefully it will entice people to come
and support the cause that we have with the Special Olympics where they will
donate some money, whether it's pennies if they have any left, right up to
cheques. We want to raise as much as we can, anywhere from $12,000 and over
which is quite common here and the people in our surrounding areas, including
the city of Lethbridge, have been great donators to this cause."
Leavitt adds the money helps send participants to Special Olympic functions
in the province, around the country and sometimes internationally.
