No Drilling In Lethbridge Rally Protests Exploratory Wells In City

Lethbridge: A "No Drilling in Lethbridge" rally will be held in the City, October 19th.

Kicking off at 2 PM in Galt Gardens, the rally will protest Goldenkey Oil's intention to drill three exploratory oil wells within Lethbridge municipal limits.

City council passed a non-binding resolution November 13, 2012 advocating the ban, but the provincial government, through its Alberta Energy Regulator, issues the license to drill.

Professor Jim Byrne and Bryson Brown from the University of Lethbridge, as well as, William Singer III and Lori Brave Rock from the Blood Reserve will speak at the rally.

Lethbridge MLAs, Greg Weadick and Bridget Pastoor were invited to speak, as well as, Lethbridge MP Jim Hillyer. Lethbridge Mayor Rajko Dodic, and City Council, as well as candidates running in the municipal elections for Mayor and Council were also invited.
