The 2013 American Music Awards nominees have been announced -- and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are leading with six nods. Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift are neck-and-neck with five nominations. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, JT and Taylor are also competing against one another for Artist of the Year.  Meanwhile, Macklemore snagged nods for Single of the Year and Favorite Band, Duo or Group. JT received nods for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album for Pop/Rock music. As for Taylor, she received nominations for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album for Country music.

Lady Gaga has unveiled the tracklist for her upcoming album, ARTPOP. The album has 15 tracks and features appearances from Too $hort, Twista, T.I. and R.Kelly.

 

16-year-old New Zealand singing sensation Lorde is facing accusations that her chart-topping hit "Royals" is racist. According to Consequence Of Sound, Veronica Bayetti Flores of the feminist blog feministing.com published a scathing commentary on the song in which Flores says that Lorde's anti-consumerism lyrics focus only on excesses associated with hip-hop culture. Flores illustrated her point with these lyrics: "But every song's like gold teeth, Grey Goose, tripping in the bathroom . . . But everybody's like Cristal, Maybach, diamonds on your time piece.

 

Adele's 2010 hit single, "Rolling in the Deep" has been certified 8 times Platinum in the U.S. According to That Grape Juice, the record has had sales of over 8 million in the U.S. -- which makes the track the second single in U.S. digital history to surpass 8 million units. Meanwhile, Adele's track, "Someone Like You" off of her sophomore album, 21 was certified 5 times platinum in the U.S.

 

Producer Sean Garrett has revealed that Miley Cyrus' song "SMS (Bangerz)" -- which appears on her recently released album, Bangerz wasn't supposed to feature Britney Spears. Sean told MTV, "The first name that we tossed around was Gwen Stefani. We were talking about Gwen because you know Gwen got that edge too, but that's how God works." He continued, "We were throwing around those ideas. Nicki [Minaj], we were talking about putting Nicki on there too. That would've been nuts too, but I think that's how God works, this was absolutely the right one."

 

Will.I.Am has spoken very highly of Britney Spears' upcoming album. He told E! News, "Britney's record is fresh. There's a lot of personal, sultry songs, as well as grit and edge and [oomph]. I'm really really proud of her and her dedication and how disciplined and focused she was in the studio. And how passionate she is to win." He went on to share his excitement for Britney's upcoming Vegas residency and said, "I can't wait for her Vegas shows to open. I want to go there and support, perform with her. This record, in my opinion, is going to be one of her best records."
