City Council Working to Become More Transparent

LETHBRIDGE: Transparency is at the heart of a change to the in-camera meetings for city council.

Alderman Liz Iwaskiw brought forward a motion, that was approved unanimously, that would move information about in-camera meetings from the third page of the council meeting agenda up to the first.

Without getting into specifics it would also continue to list the issues they would be discussing at the in-camera meetings. She added that by law there are simply some issues that they can't discuss publicly.

Iwaskiw stated that while she originally wanted to hold the in-camera sessions as they come up during council meetings instead of before, she realized that it would be an extremely poor use of time.
