Alleged War Criminal Will No Longer Hide in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE: An alleged war criminal has been arrested in Southern Alberta.

Lethbridge regional police arrested a 52-year-old man at around noon Tuesday. The man is wanted in the US for living there illegally.

Jorge Vinicio Orantes Sosa is in custody and will go to Calgary for an extradition hearing.

Sosa holds both Canadian and American citizenship, but is wanted by Guatemalan authorities in connection to a series of 1982 war crimes.

They believe Sosa was involved with the massacre of 251 men, women and children.
