New X-Ray Equipment Slated For Rural Health Sites In Southern Alberta
Lethbridge: Improved X-ray technology will soon be available in Coaldale, Raymond, Fort
Macleod, Magrath and Picture Butte.
"We are replacing X-ray machines in rural sites throughout the southwest area
of the South Zone; some of these machines are 25 years old or older," says Dana
Meroniuk, AHS Diagnostic Imaging Manager, Rural Southwest. "We are introducing
technology that will provide more reliable service to our patients and superior
images. The new ergonomic equipment also allows us to serve our patients with
quality equipment close to where they live."
Portable X-ray machines
will be available in Coaldale, Raymond and Fort Macleod for urgent cases, while the new equipment is installed. However, most patients will be referred to other sites for X-rays, including
nearby rural sites or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
