Chamber Of Commerce Forum Hears Questions Similar To Fall Election Forums
Lethbridge: About 150-people turned out Monday night for the Chamber of Commerce
all-candidates by-election forum. Candidate Kay Adeniyi sent last minute regrets that he was not able to attend.
The majority of the questions posed to the other nine candidates
followed similar questions asked during forums leading up to the October 18th Civic election. Communication with residents and the openness of city Hall -- or the lack of
openness -- are issues that are still being hammered home.
A handful of those who attended the forum, narrowed their choices to a couple
front runners, while others wrote-off a candidate they originally favored.
However, no one would divulge those choices to Country-95 reporters. Some of the loudest applause when questions were answered was reserved for Jeff Coffman.
The forum's closing statements ended on a lighter note. Lea Switzer, the
only woman running for the final seat on council, felt it should not come down
to a gender issue. Lea stated, "I believe I am the best man for the job".
To counter, Wade Galloway, pointed out, "Given the length of my hair,
I might be the best woman for the job".
