75 Square Feet of Bricks Falls from Building and onto City Street
LETHBRIDGE: The sidewalk in front of the Chinese National League building along the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South is now littered with debris.
During the lunch hour Friday a large portion of the front facade fell to the ground.
Fortunately no one was injured as no one was in the building or on the street at the time.
There's still no official word on exactly what brought part of the building down, although there is some speculation that the old structure simply gave in to strong winds.
The City's Chief Building Inspector has determined that the structure is potentially unstable, meaning until a structural engineer conducts a full inspection, 2nd Avenue between 3rd and 4th Street South will be closed to traffic and both parking lots on either side of the street will also be closed.
