Lethbridge Hosts National Auctioneer Competition

LETHBRIDGE: For the first time, the city is hosting the All Around Canadian 2011 Auctioneers Championship.

The event aims to draw attention to an association that has over 600 members in Alberta and the strongest auctioneer assocation in the country - according to spokesperson Ron Victor.

"We have auctioneers here that specialize in livestock, agricultural merchandise, bankruptcy sales and those that are strictly commercial," says Victor. "You could probably come out to an auction every day of the week and have a different variety to bid on."

The contest is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Coast Hotel.  Each contestant will auction five items and be judged on their performance.

The public is welcome to attend and bid on the items, which include trips, sports collectibles and artwork.

Money raised will go to the Children's Wish Foundation.  Viewings begin at 9 a.m.
