Lethbridge Airport Marketers to Woo Airlines with Community Backing
LETHBRIDGE: The Lethbridge airport is looking to drum up more support, in the hopes of attracting more airlines and in turn more affordable flights.
John Hamilton is director of the Lethbridge Airport Enhancement and Marketing Initiative.
He says surface support in the community is already there, but what the airport really needs now is a concentrated effort from the city and county to show there's a demand for more airlines and more flights - which could lower rates.
"Talk is cheap. Everyone can say I want this airline to come, but it's really time to follow through with action," says Hamilton. "We've got to get businesses in the community to have their policies that they will support the airline out of the Lethbridge- just anything to show them that we're serious."
Research shows the number one reason Lethbridge and area residents don't fly out of the local airport is the high cost and inconvenient times of flights.
