Train Derailment Closes Rural Roads For Several Days

Carmangay:  Sections of  road will remain closed south of Carmangay for at least three days after a train derailment Tuesday morning.  That time will allow for clean-up and repair of tracks. It will also give C-P Rail Police and Vulcan RCMP more time to investigate.

Just after 8-am, 22-empty cars from the mid section of a train left the tracks, near the intersection of Range Road-234 and Township Road-134. There were no injuries to the crew or public.

Private property was not damaged and there is no danger of environmental damage. It has already been determined the engineer and conductor followed proper procedure.
