Regional Police Officer Assaulted While Arresting Suspect

 
 
Lethbridge:  A Regional Police officer who responded to a neighbor dispute Tuesday afternoon was assaulted while attempting to make an arrest.

  The incident happened about 3:00 in the 600-block of 10th Street north. While trying to arrest a man for possession of a narcotic, the suspect resisted arrest and assaulted the officer. After the man was restrained and arrested, police executed a search warrant on a nearby residence.

  38-year old Richard Laurie Thomas Ernst, has been charged with Resisting Arrest, Assaulting a Police Officer, Possession of a Narcotic and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
