Lethbridge/Taber: A 21-year old Lethbridge man is facing charges in a crime spree that included
a commercial robbery, vehicle theft, dangerous driving and flight from
About 8:30 Thursday night, the Stephen Gerworsky is alleged to have taken a vehicle, without permission, from someone known to him. While
police were trying to track down the vehicle, they got a driving complaint about
a vehicle in Coaldale that matched the vehicle they were looking for.
The vehicle was then spotted heading north on 43rd street where an
officer tried to stop the driver. The vehicle fish-tailed into the ditch but
got back onto 43rd. Police had to discontinue pursuit at that point.
The driver of the vehicle then turned up at a business in the 200-block of
Mayor Magrath Drive north, where he demanded money from two employees, struck one of
them in the head, emptied two tills and fled.
The culprit and the vehicle were then seen in Taber. Police there pursued
the vehicle which went off the road. The culprit was arrested and charged with
driving offences and then turned over to Regional police.
Stephen Gerworsky was subsequently charged in Lethbridge, with robbery, theft, dangerous driving and evading police. He made his first court appearance on Friday.
