Fort Macleod Finally Gets The Promised Funding For A Police College

Edmonton:  There are now dollar figures attached to the Law Enforcement Training Centre promised for Fort Macleod.

The commitment was originally made in 2006 with construction to begin the following year, at a cost of about $60-million.  Last Thursday in Fort Macleod, Premier Stelmach noted the new price tag for the facility could be between $120-million and $150-million.

Thursday's provincial budget allotted $117-million for the college over three years, with construction set to begin in 2012.  Of that $117-million, $20-Million will come from the government's capital fund this year, with further amounts of $50-Million and $47-Million over the following years.
