Poor Weather Leads To Closure Of Highway #3 At Coleman
Crowsnest Pass: Extremely poor driving conditions in the Crowsnest Pass have led to the closure of Highway #3 at Coleman, as of 1:30 PM Monday.
Alberta Transportation, Volker Stevin and RCMP have consulted and the decision was made that the highway would be closed for the safety of motorists. It is anticipated that this will be a lengthy closure as heavy snowfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. At this time the highway is expected to be closed until noon on March 1st. Updates will follow.
Heavy snowfall and very poor visibility are being experienced in the entire area around the Crowsnest Pass and the Elk Valley area in British Columbia.
Highway 22, north of the Crowsnest Pass, is experiencing very poor driving conditions and travel is not recommended. Roads are very slippery and snow is accumulating on the highways. Visibility is extremely limited and often non existent as a result of blowing snow and traffic.
You are reminded to turn on your vehicle headlights and not rely on the daytime running lights (as the vehicle's tail lights are not activated).
