LETHBRIDGE: Changing weather patterns over the last few years have started creating new headaches for those in the agriculture industry.
Heavy rain and snow is leading to more overland flooding and runoff problems, especially on land covered in manure.
Inspector Carl Iverson with the Natural Resources Conservation Board is set up at Ag-Expo, and he explained that farmers and ranchers can go to them for help.
Iverson commented that landowners first need to come up with a plan, as they know what resources they have to deal with the issue, and assuming the plan is sound, the NRCB will do what they can.
He added that containment is always the first and most important step. Iverson also noted that in cases where manure is involved, burning is another step that can help deal with the problem.
