Provincial Funding Confirmed For Lethbridge Community Arts Centre

Lethbridge:  Infrastructure money has been confirmed for construction of Lethbridge's Community Arts Centre.

The province's Municipal Sustainability Initiative has allotted $465-million in 2011-2012 for infrastructure and conditional operating projects in municipalities outside of Calgary and Edmonton.  Among the key projects, is $14.5 million in M-S-I funding for the Community Arts Centre.

With input from municipalities, the minimum threshold for projects has been reduced from 10 per cent to five per cent of total MSI funding. For example, for a municipality receiving $500,000 through MSI, the MSI portion of an eligible project had to be at least $50,000 under the previous rules; now the MSI portion can be as low as $25,000.
