City Looking at Input on the Future of Our Landfill

LETHBRIDGE: The city is starting to focus more on what we're doing with our waste.

They'll be holding a public workshop Wednesday night to look at options for increasing the landfill capacity.

City of Lethbridge Waste and Recycling Services Manager Dave Schaaf stated that it's very important for them to hear your thoughts on the matter, as the landfill can only continue to meet our needs for another 10 to 12 years.

He explained that they want to make it viable for at least another 50-years, commenting that they're looking at options from expanding our current landfill, to putting a higher emphasis on waste diversion and recycling.

The workshop starts at 6:30 Wednesday night at the Sunnyside School, located on Highway 3 one mile east of Lethbridge and four miles north.
