Carmangay Will Soon Have Bragging Rights To The Largest Wind Farm In Canada

Carmangay:   Construction for the largest wind farm in Canada is set to begin next year near Carmangay.

The Alberta Utilities Commission has given approval for Greengate Power Corporation's Blackspring Ridge 1 project.   When it comes on-line in 2013, the wind farm will have a generating capacity of 300-megawatts.

The project will also have an economic benefit from new jobs during cosntruction, as well as increased tax revenue and landowner royalties.  Blackspring Ridge will supply electricity to 100,000 homes and reduce greenhouse gas emission by 6000,000 tonnes per year. That's equivalent to removing 120,000 cars from provincial roads.
