Improvements Begin on Malloy Drain

COALDALE: A big step towards dealing with flooding between Coaldale and Lethbridge is getting underway.

Crews are starting work on expanding the Malloy Drain east of Coaldale to increase its capacity to handle storm water.

It's estimated that by controling flooding issues in the area, Coaldale alone could see a half-a-billion dollar economic boost.

Coaldale Mayor Kim Craig did note that those in the area should be prepared over the next few months, as flooding could be worse until the improvements to the Malloy Drain are finished.
