Magrath: An 18-year old has been charged after an investigation to the Magrath
schools lockdown yesterday. The incident began about 10:30, when an allegedly
distraught 18-year old student left the High School and had been overheard
discussing firearms. RCMP eventually made contact with the young man who was
located in a rural area west of Magrath. The lock-down was called off at about
Trevor Bevers has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession
of a Firearm Dangerous to the Public Peace and Having a Firearm in a Motor vehicle. He will be in Lethbridge court May 26th.
Constable Nathan Moore with the Raymond-Magrath RCMP, stresses that the
school lock down was precautionary and there were no direct threats made to the
school, staff or students.
