Lethbridge: Regional Police have charged a 38-year old city man with robbery, in the case of the 87-year old woman who was mugged at a casino early Thursday morning. Sajid Mahmood made his first court appearance Friday morning.
At about 2:15 Thursday morning, the woman was withdrawing money from an ATM at the casino in the 3700-block of 2nd-Avenue south. As she was about to take money from the machine, a man pushed her aside and grabbed the cash. The woman tried to grab the man's sleeve and struggled with him but he over-powered her and got away with the cash.
Police were able to issue media a surveillance photo from the casino.
