Oscar Nominated Film Maker Touring Blood Reserve for New Film
BLOOD RESERVE: Oscar nominated film maker Josh Fox talked to people on the Blood Reserve Friday, as he works on a new film about oil and gas development around the world.
Specifically he's focussing on the impact of "fracking" on the communities, a process where chemicals are used underground to increase fractures in the earth, making it easier and less expensive to remove natural gas.
Fox says in "Gasland", his film that got him nominated for an Oscar, he went to American communities that already had heavy petroleum developments. Residents there have complained of numerous health issues, several of which deal with cancer.
Fox explained that he feels his work is important, because people need to know what they're getting into, before they invite big oil companies in to start development.
