ALBERTA/MONTANA: 26-year old Shawn Aaron Locke of Lethbridge has been charged on this side of the border, as part of an international weapons smuggling operation.
Earlier this week 28-year old Harley Clifford Combres and 23-year old Caley Dawn Sinclair, both of Lethbridge, were arrested in Montana where they had purchased 12-firearms. It's alleged that they were going to bring the firearms back so they could sell them in Canada.
Staff Sergeant Gordon Sage with the RCMP explained that they couldn't have cracked the case open without the Rocky Mountain Integrated Border Enforcement Team. He stated that the cooperation between Canadian and American authorities was the key.
Sage added that American and Canadian authorities will meet next week, to discuss how they'll handle all the charges on both sides of the border. He did note that there's a possibility all three suspects could end up facing charges in both countries.
Locke will make his first court appearance April 7th, while a court date in Montana for Combres and Sinclair is yet to be confirmed.
