Lethbridge Sport Council Looks to Build on Success of Minor Hockey Association
LETHBRIDGE: The Lethbridge Sport Council's taking notice of the huge success that Minor Hockey's seeing in our city.
Tuesday Country 95 News discovered that after bringing in the "Respect in Sport Parent Program", verbal abuse of officials dropped 60-per cent.
After hearing about the numbers, Lethbridge Sport Council Executive Director Susan Eymann noted that they are also very interested in increasing fair play and sportsmanship in every sports league around the city.
Eymann suggested that they could soon help the Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association spread the message of how they were able drop verbal abuse.
She explained that the Sport Council will move into the Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre after renovations are finished there. Once inside, they would have a room devoted to local sports organizations. Teams or leagues will able to rent the room for free, and Eyman commented that it could be a perfect forum for Minor Hockey to talk to other groups about implementing a similar system.
