COALDALE: A new summer treat for Coaldale kids.
The Kinsmen Club of Coaldale has announced the start date for construction of a new water spray park in the community.
Spearheaded by the club, organizers say the project wouldn't have been possible without support and donations from several community groups including the Coaldale Community Wellness Association, the Coaldale Kinette Club and the Community Facility Enhancement program.
The Town of Coaldale is supervising construction of the 3522 foot square park, which will include 23 water features. With names like "misty mountain" and "sneaky soakers," the features are arranged in zones so children ages one to 15 can play side by side without disturbing each other. There are also elements intended to allow children with accessbility issues to access the park.
May construction will be kicked off by a sod-turning ceremony at the spray park site, 2211 16th St in Coaldale, beside the existing "tot lot" wading pool. Starting at 11 a.m. April 13th, organizers will recognize the work that went into creating a family-friendly space that offers free recreation.
Construction is scheduled to be complete in June.
