Early Morning Road Mayhem Leads To Impaired Driving Charge

Lethbridge: A 69-year old city man has been charged in relation to a path of destruction that greeted Regional Police Monday morning.

About 7:45 police were called about a vehicle that hit a traffic light pole at the intersection of 5th avenue and Scenic Drive south. The vehicle continued north on Scenic Drive, crossing the median at 3rd avenue and entering the Wendy's parking lot.  It then headed down 3rd avenue toward Indian Battle Park, where it hit a light pole half way down the hill. The man had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to hospital.

Richard Smith faces impaired driving charges and will be in court June first.
