LETHBRIDGE- It was a full house at the Lethbridge Public Library Gallery, but the candidate's table wasn't. The Southern Alberta Council for Public Affairs (SACPA) and the library jointly held a forum for people to see the candidates debate, and ask questions about their concerns. Three out of the five nominees were in attendance, but the Conservative and Green Parties' candidates didn't attend.

Conservative nominee Jim Hillyer was unable to make it, with little heads up before the forum. "Five minutes before I left to come here," says SACPA moderator Trevor Page, "I got a call from the Conservative Party candidate s campaign manager to say that he was sorry but something had come up and Jim Hillyer just could not attend."

Out of a crowd of 200, about 15 people asked questions to the candidates. They ranged from topics about local environmental issues, to what they would do about health care in the riding.

After the forum, Country 95 news was able to talk to people about their thoughts on Hillyer not showing up. Here's what some had to say.
