Forum Plows Ahead Despite Missing Faces

LETHBRIDGE: Tuesday's candidates forum is still going forward, despite the cancellation of one candidate and no response from another.

Jim Hillyer, the Conservative choice for the Lethbridge riding, has not responded to calls from forum organizers after his campaign manager sent them a cancellation note last week. Cailin Bartlett, the Green Party candidate has also not responded.

Chamber president Wayne Brewer says his group hopes the empty spots won't impact attendance.

"I just encourage the electorate to come out to our forum," says Brewer. "I think it's a great venue to really gain a good understanding of what's happening in this election."

The forum goes Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Yates Memorial Centre.
