LETHBRIDGE-What do you do with a million dollars? For the Lethbridge and District Auto
Dealers (LADA) you donate it to Lethbridge College for constructing a new trades
and technologies building. And that's exactly what they did on Wednesday.
"The trades are so important," says LADA President Barry
Dubnyk,"and we have students going up to Edmonton and Calgary for training, we
won't have as many people in the industry and a lot of times we won't get them
The money will go to help build a new facility for students in the Trades and
Technology program. Construction for the building will begin in the next three
to five years.
"We are absolutely thrilled beyond belief," says chair of Heavy Duty
Mechanics Sheldon Anderson, "we have great technology, great instructors, now we
just need a building to go along with it."
This year 1,000 trade students will graduate from the trades program. The
College hopes to have that increase to 2300 over the next few years.
