Left Turn Signal Goes Up to Cut Down Number of Collisions

LETHBRIDGE: A left turn signal is up and running at the intersection of Mayor Magrath Drive and 22nd Avenue.

The city put it up after a study found there had been 21 collisions there between 2006 and 2009.

Traffic Signals Manager Patrick Armijo explained that the intersection's proximity to the intersection of Mayor Magrath Drive and Scenic Drive is the problem, especially when the traffic flow increases.

Armijo noted that none of the other intersections along Mayor Magrath Drive had anywhere near the number of collisions, and they're hopeful the left turn arrow will solve the problem.
