County of Warner: Foul play is not suspected in the death of a 61-year old woman who failed
to return to her home near Raymond after checking her cattle.
Annetta Duncan, who lives with her husband on a farm about 17-kilometres
south-east of Raymond, left home on an ATV about 2-pm Saturday afternoon. When
she had not returned home by 3:30, her husband went to look for her.
The husband found
the ATV parked and idling near a cement spillway on an irrigation canal that runs
through the property. The woman was nowhere in sight. It was noted the water
level in the canal was higher than normal and the husband called family and
friends to search the property. When they were unable to locate the woman, the
RCMP was called.
Officers from the Raymond and Milk River detachments and the
Police Dog section from Lethbridge attended. As well, Fire Rescue from Warner
and Raymond and two local Hutterite colonies assisted in the search.
Saturday night, Duncan's body was found in the water about eight
kilometres downstream from where her ATV had been left idling. The Police
