LETHBRIDGE: Here's more of what you may have missed from Lethbridge city council's Monday meeting, with all the election buzz...
"Recycling" the blue box issue
Another "kick at the can" for curbside recycling.
Lethbridge city council voted Monday to research blue box recycling options ahead of fall budget decisions.
The city's environment committee will bring recommendations for curbside recycling forward no later than September.
A flood of support for Uplands sump pump experiment
A solution is in the works for flooding problems in the Lethbridge Uplands.
Council voted Monday to start a trial study with a new pumping device, designed by city engineers.
About 12 homes in the Uplands will be fitted with the invention, at a cost of $15,000 dollars for the city.
They'll report back on how well it worked in the fall.
Another step forward for the new community arts centre
Council awarded tender for construction of the new arts centre to Dawson Wallace Construction Ltd.
Construction on the centre, to be located on the site where IGA used to be downtown, starts this summer.
The project's expected finish date is early 2013, at the latest.
