Increase In Rural Fuel Thefts

Picture Butte:  The hike in fuel prices is being blamed for a spike in fuel thefts.

Picture Butte RCMP report an undetermined amount of fuel has been stolen over the past three weeks, mostly from farm equipment at Highway Services in the town.

It's expected the problem could become more frequent as fuel prices stay high.  For that reason, RCMP ask you to be aware of suspicious people or vehicles in your area.

If you have any information about the fuel thefts, you can call Picture Butte RCMP at 403-732-4449 or Crime Stoppers Toll free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or on-line at www.tipsubmit.com
