Police Say Abduction Attempt Phony

LETHBRIDGE: Regional police have now issued a statement a possible abduction case in Lethbridge was made up.

A 16-year-old girl told police she was walking near Lakeview school when a man tried to pull her into his vehicle.

Major Crimes Investigators found the story was a complete fabrication, but say the girl didn't mean to alarm or concern to the public.

She has been referred to an alternative judicial process outside the formal Court setting.

In their statement released Tuesday afternoon, police remind the public that "making false reports alleging that a crime occurred can be prosecuted and is taken very seriously in the Court of Law."
