Medicine Stone Returned

LETHBRIDGE: A sacred Blackfoot artifact that was stolen earlier this week has been returned.

Staff at the Fort Whoop Up Interpretive Centre noticed the site's Medicine Stone was taken sometime between 3 p.m. Wednesday and noon Thursday.

They've now reported to the Lethbridge Regional Police Service that someone saw a backhoe returning the stone Friday night at about 8:30 p.m.

There were no markings or description of the vehicle noted.

The stone, which has spiritual significance to the Blood Tribe, is said to weigh from 600 to 1,000 lbs.
