TABER: A Montreal couple is facing charges locally, for allegedly defrauding a Taber woman of more than $100,000 over four years.
Taber Police started looking into the matter when the victim became suspicious of some of the costs she was being asked to cover.
One example was that Hurst allegedly told the victim that he had a legal team in Quebec that was working on a legal issue for her, while there was in fact no legal team.
43-year old David Hurst is accused of be-friending the woman and then having her send money to him for a number of fictitious reasons.
It's also alleged that 34-year old Franceen Schattner also benefitted from the money sent by the Taber woman.
Police are also investigating whether Hurst was also defrauding Schattner, as he was living with her under a different name.
Hurst will appear in Taber court Tuesday, while Schattner will be in June 21st.
